Terms & Conditions

All equipment to be signed for accepting conditions of hire when delivered or on collection. The person signing will then be responsible for the equipment together with the hire fee and making good for any loss or damage. For account holders, interest is charged on all overdue accounts at the rate of 2% per calendar month or part thereof from date of invoice. Any discount offered and/or given is subject to full payment within 30 days of invoice. The discount is lost if the account is settled outside 30 days and interest becomes payable in addition to the normal hire fees. Non-account holders must pay in advance.

ALL hire orders must be confirmed in writing by post or email.

Before dry hired equipment will be released the following items will be required as proof of identity:

  • Passport or Driving license
  • 2 utility bills – 3 months from the same address.

Credit card details will also be taken and kept on file.

Proof of identity will be required before equipment is handed over and a deposit on the equipment hire at a proportional value to its cost, which will be refunded to the hirer after inspection of the equipment and after any subsequent deductions have been made for loss damage, etc.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that all equipment is insured against loss, theft and damage by hirers from the moment it leaves Doug Hunt Sound & Light’s care and remains that way until it is inspected on return to Doug Hunt Sound & Light.

Where equipment is to be used by any persons not appointed by Doug Hunt sound & Light limited (including performers), it is the customer’s responsibility to put right any damage cased by misuse of the equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: Overdriven loudspeakers/amplifiers, damage from drinks or other liquids and damage from drops or mishandling.

When spare lamps are supplied for lanterns, broken lamps must be returned for inspection or lamps will be chargeable. Spare lamps will be supplied only when regulations allow. Doug Hunt Sound & Light will not accept any responsibility for injury or damage caused whilst customer / hirer is changing lamps. No plugs, sockets, lanterns etc. are to be removed or rewired, charges will be made to repair equipment altered by hirers.

Equipment will be supplied in working order, although defects can occur in transit for which we cannot be responsible, although we will make every endeavour to correct any faults arising from normal wear and tear.

We will try to supply equipment as ordered, but we reserve the right to substitute other equipment as necessary and cannot be held responsible should a previous hirer not return the equipment on time.

Hirers are responsible for using the equipment in a proper and safe manner and Doug Hunt Sound & Light accept no responsibility for the consequences of any unsafe and improper use of equipment.

All cables are to be returned coiled, clean, taped using only electrical (LX) tape. A charge of £1.00 per cable will be made for recoiling. LX tape can be purchased from us, if you do not have your own.

All equipment to be returned or be ready for collection at dates and times agreed, late returns will be chargeable.

Cancellation:

For dry hire orders, a cancellation fee may be chargeable if hire is cancelled within two working weeks of hire commencement date.

For event production orders (any order including the supply of personnel) A 50% cancellation fee will be charged if the event is cancelled or substantially downsized within 14 days of our first day on site.  A 100% cancellation fee will be chargeable if the event is cancelled or substantially downsized within 7 days of our first day on site.

Should equipment be returned damaged we reserve the right to make extra hire charges until spare parts are available to effect repairs to cover lost hire period. Spare parts and labour will be charged on to you the customer.

In the unlikely event of a failure of an item of hire equipment, please telephone immediately so that we can resolve the problem without delay. If we are advised of failures on return of the equipment, the equipment fee will still be chargeable

Property and title in the equipment shall remain vested in Doug Hunt Sound & Light Limited.
